Spiritual Warfare, Angels and Demons
The human story is not the only one in this series. The book of Revelation unveils the spiritual warfare involved in Biblical prophecy. So Chronicles of the Apocalypse shows the evil plans and actions of Satan and his fallen angels, the Watchers masquerading as gods of the nations. This gang of demons is not going down easily.

This is the fourth and final book in The Chronicles of the Apocalypse. This is the best of the four, and probably Brian Godawa's best novel overall. But it's also the darkest story he's told. It's the story of the Fall of Jerusalem in A.D. 70.The characters from the previous three volumes are at their most desperate by this point, including the evil supernatural Watchers. It's an emotional read, but also very much a faith-affirming read. Characters in impossible situations have no other option but to look to Christ. But just knowing that this is a work of historical fiction makes this a serious read. This actually happened in the first century. God's judgement on Israel was a terrible thing to endure.Theologically speaking, this is also Brian's best work. He not only demystifies the apocalyptic imagery of the Book of Revelation, he also explains the biblical rationale for orthodox preterism and why the death of Christ brought an end to the Old Testament sacrificial system. Yet it doesn't read like dry theology, because it isn't. It's an emotional, gut-wrenching sword and sandals epic.I look forward to enjoying what Brian Godawa creates in the future!
This conclusion to the Chronicles of the Apocalypse series did not fail to deliver. For me, this series was the conclusion to the Chronicles of the Nephilim series. The story line was excellent, the drama kept me engaged and I found it difficult to put the book down. Most importantly, the story continued Godawa’s studied understanding of eschatology. The underlying premise of the storyline is well researched and documented in the end notes, not only of this book, but in each of the books Godawa has written. I enjoyed this and each of the series he has written. I encourage others to read at least the Chronicles of the Apocolypse series, but believe you should start with the Chronicles of the Nephilim to get the full picture. Great series and great book.
Judgment: Wrath of the Lamb concludes Godawa's four book Chronicles of the Apocalypse series. After a quick transition through events following the last novel, Vespasian is Emperor, and Titus is poised to take Jerusalem. The Watchers in the unseen realm are granted success on at least their destruction of Jerusalem, but the fate of the Christian community in Pella and whether anyone will survive within Jerusalem is uncertain. Godawa does an excellent job keeping the reader guessing and engaged. I found I was continuously surprised at the events not matching my expectations, making this the most fun read and a very fitting end of the series. As with the previous installments, there is a substantial appendix full of notes and references. I really enjoy the level of detail given to the historical and religious perspectives, as it gives the story a lot more sense of reality (especially when half the characters exist in the spiritual realm).
I've been waiting for this book since I started the first in the series (Tyrant: Rise of the Beast). I was not disappointed. The story is very well told. You may not agree with the preterist viewpoint but Brian Godawa provides a veritable cornucopia of notes throughout the series.Even if you don't agree with the interpretation, the story is engaging, the characters are well developed, & the dramatic interaction makes this book (and the 3 preceding ones) well worth the time spent to read.If this book interests you, I strongly recommend you start at the beginning. It's worth it!
I loved every book in The Chronicles of the Apocalypse but Judgment is definitely the best book in the series. It's so easy to read and so hard to put down; it's packed with historical information and gives so many vivid details about all the events, both in the spiritual and in the physical realms, that were involved in the horrible destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple that it becomes a picture etched in the mind, impossible to forget. So much is happening here that brings together different passages of the Bible and explains the Book of Revelation! No other book has ever influenced my understanding of the end times like this one. And the way it describes the consummation of the New Covenant and the Bride of Christ is so beautiful! I've learned so much from this book, received so many answers to my questions and I am so grateful for that. Can't wait to see the next book from Brian Godawa.
I will have to say, until reading this book I was clueless to the extent of the destruction of Jerusalem. Before reading this series I was a futurist in my interpretation of the end-times. After reading this series I have moved closer to being a preterist. You will find that this series challenges all your preconceived notions of when the "end-times" occurred. Brian Godawa does a superb job in researching this topic. I have been challenged.
I just could not put this book down. I am very happy that it came out before Christmas because I think the entire series will make an awesome Christmas present. Really a must read. Brian has a way of pulling his readers into the pages and carrying them along with the characters' trials and tribulations, triumphs and joy. I cheered, laughed, cried. I will be rereading this series over and over again. Lots of history to be learned and so well written. Congratulations Brian, you have produced a spectacular series!!
Godawa once again delivered on his promise to make Judgment the best in the series. A terrific grand finale. He sows up his thoughts on eschatology and the book of Revelation within the narrative story. As the drama unfolds you are left hanging on every page waiting to see what is going to happen. Although I don’t agree with 100% of his position, it’s close enough for me and an entertaining read nonetheless. And even if you don’t agree with any of it, the novel is super entertaining and worth the money.
